Amazon is disgusting - US Seller's lives being destroyed

I have been here for about 15 years, lots of blood, sweat and tears. I am a fashion jewelry seller and I'm now being hit with all these demands to provide testing documents for "childen's jewelry" compliance. According to Amazon, Children's jewelry is for 12 and under. Nowhere in my listings do I have that these products are for ages 12 and under. My appeals are being rejected and Amazon is determined to remove the catalog pages that I've created over the years. Funny that I never had this issue in the past, but now that I've stopped sending products to FBA, they're suddenly targeting me.

SO MUCH HARD WORK, JUST GONE IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE!

There are a gazillion listings on Amazon that are just like mine, mostly Chinese. Are these sellers being harassed?

Thank you, Amazon, for destroying yet ANOTHER American small business.

It looks like my time is done here since all my listings will be removed.

Don't think it can't happen to you. It's only a matter of time

Yup, this sounds about right. If they can't get you with the ever-increasing fees, they'll find another way to bleed you dry.

I make and sell parts for adult hobbyists. I get hit from compliance requests on occasion. I always appeal and about half the time the appeal is granted, the other half I have to remove the product. There is no rational reason for this, as all products are essentially the same with minor size variation. I simply stop selling the ones they no longer allow and sell those exclusively on other platforms.

This can never be repeated enough - for the "follow the rules and you'll be OK" crowd.

But the worst part of this whole scenario is that, even if you locate a sane, rational entity at Amazon (either human or bot) and have your issue fixed, there is NO guarantee that the problem will not return.

In fact (from experience), it is likely to resurface.

In the long run, you cannot win these battles. ☠

@Manny_Amazon Today we get hassled for selling childrens products that are not childrens products. Same issue , this is not even childrens jewelry we are selling. I am convinced they do not read the appeals, and just reject them.

Meantime chinese sellers calling gold plated brass- 14K gold in earrings and crosses in the jewelry space? This practice confinues. Amazon leaves them alone to continue defrauding customers. Amazon pulls a listing, it shows up as a new listing the next day.

Amazon should allow people from other countries to sell their products on Amazon only through US sellers. This is hurting sellers at all levels and the US economy. The costs to manufacture products in the US are different. If you make a product for a dollar and the foreign market produces the same item for a penny, then sells it for five cents, how do you compete with that? Territorial boundaries should be established for selling products. It's getting out of control; almost every product on Amazon is sold by a vendor outside the US.

Small vendors in the US are struggling to survive on Amazon while foreign vendors continue to thrive.

well duh, because they are like big pharma. When a whistleblower gets through and they have to fork out billions or whatever, they’ve already profited so much from it that the amount they get sued or fined for is Pennie’s in the end. Like when big pharma gets sued for billions, they already knew they would, but the profits greatly outweigh the end results. So it doesn’t matter.

I have no issue with foreign sellers, the problem is the foreign sellers playing by different rules and committing crimes ( fraud)

  • Amazon allows this fraud
  • Amazon enables this fraud

These sellers have no risk, what risk is there for a seller in china offering 14K gold and shipping gold plated brass? Amazon confiscates the worthless inventory?

If a US seller does this you could face a lawsuit or even prison.

100% feel the same ..have been selling on Amazon for 10 years. It's one thing that sometimes Amazon has to enforce compliance issues; HOWEVER, THEY COMPLETELY ARE INACCESSIBLE TO SPEAK TO ANYONE ABOUT IT. THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING!! With the trillions that Amazon is making, beef up with REAL knowledgeable support BEFORE just shovelling crap out there for your Sellers to clean-up!! Your unexplainable, inconsistent, and whimsical policies turn working with Amazon into an Alice in Wonderland experience. Forget about the new fees, Amazon sellers are now likely spending up to five times more on stupid Amazon stuff that was not around or needed even 3 years ago!! You want new products, innovation, cheaper suppliers, THEN FIX YOUR SUPPORT BUSINESS!!! so that we can get back to doing what we do best and not do your clean-up.
