Sales Have Fallen Off Drastically
I realize there are a lot of posts like this that pop up from time to time with people reporting their sales have really fallen off. I don't mean to create yet another one just to bemoan this fact as I'm sure a lot of other people have experience this too, but this is quite severe.
It was like a flip switched mid-December. I've been selling on Amazon for five years and have a lot of data to show what I expect to be selling relative to other years. I went from nearly 1500-1800 sales a month down to maybe 350 at most. My January was down 80% from the previous January. I haven't changed anything, and the sudden nature of it makes me feel like something in the algorithm has changed rather than it being a subtle creep of competition.
Perhaps I'm missing something and there was an announcement as to some policy that changed. I'm FBM and have never been FBA.

My sales have gone down dramatically too. I think because there’s so many sellers from China

Your competitors can be anything but subtle if they are slashing prices to the bone, or doing something else to their offer that makes it irresistible to customers. InstantPot at one time owned the category and then a whole host of competitors from no-name brands to big CSG companies moved in and ate their lunch. Amazon's algorithm is only too happy to reward the high-converting detail pages, regardless of who was the category leader last year.
It's also possible customers have moved on. A lot of ASINs in categories that surged during pandemic are now limping along like fire pits and certain craft materials.

It is NOT imagination.
It's REAL, and a warning. ..Tighten Up if you want to stay in THIS business. and have a few other options to last through the LEAN SEASON. All the poor souls paying for ADS are supporting the Space Program and not getting their ROI in sales.

We are having the same issue. I think Chinese sellers are definetly contributing to the downfall of US based sellers when it comes to Amazon Sales.
The fact that Amazon allows Chinese sellers to sell directly to the US marketplace without a Nexus / American based office / warehouse is the big issue here. Lets just hope Jeff or the US goverment look at fixing this issue in the near future to help US based companies compete.

I think it's a combination of Chinese sellers as well as the absolute necessity for higher PPC bids.
The Chinese are going through some uncertainty right now in their economy. Many Chinese sellers are the actual factories, so they sell their products at break even just to pay the workers and keep the factory going. Not to mention using sneaky tactics to avoid import taxes.
Regarding PPC, just a couple years ago ~3 of the top 10 search results were sponsored. Now about 8 of the top 10 are sponsored. Amazon made more money on PPC last year than any other sector, so they wanna keep shareholders happy.
Is this sustainable? My vote is no.. but let's see how far they are willing to go.

True. I had like 6-7 sales, now there are days with 0-3... :-/ What is happening.

with the price fixing here on Amazon sellers should have a legal path in a class action. We sell non-seasonal books and have 8000 titles listed with . maybe sales per day at best now. It should be 50-60 per day historically. When you do submit a ticket the sell support idiots paste canned information and don’t want to help sellers.

My sales increased up through november, then declined throughout December, which has never happened before.
Talk of tariffs etc. isn't helping.
