ABN number for Australian Sellers

Hello,

I received an email from Amazon AU regarding the ABN. It states:

"If you hold an Australian Business Number (ABN), you may submit that information to us by visiting Seller Central Settings > Tax Information > ABN/VAT/GST Registration Numbers. If you don’t currently have an ABN, you may be required to apply for an ABN depending on your company structure."

I do not have a company established in Australia; my company is registered in the USA, and it is linked to my account. Do I need to register for an ABN? What actions should I take?

I'm not trained in tax and therefore cannot provide you with sufficient guidance in this area. I would recommend speaking with a tax advisor and checking out the Australian Tax Office website that you can reach through this help page: Tax Invoices.

If there are any US registered sellers on the forum, hopefully they will drop by with some guidance. 😊
