How do I register an ASIN in Brand Registry so I can use our barcode instead of an Amazon barcode for FBA?

Hello, I am a new Amazon seller and am having a difficult time getting my FBA listing right.

We have designed a product and are having it manufactured exclusively for us. It will not be available from third-party sellers. I would like to use the GS1 registered barcode on the back for FBA, instead of the Amazon barcode.

I have the listing complete with the correct SKU... and when I try to move the product from merchant fulfillment to Amazon FBA, I get the following error:

This product offer cannot use a manufacturer barcode for tracking because it does not meet the Product Eligibility Requirements.

To use Amazon barcodes you can apply to the Amazon Brand Registry to request an exemption and to enroll your ASIN into the program.

We are registered with the Amazon Brand Registry... but I can't figure out how to register our ASIN in the program to request an exemption.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thank. you!

Good Afternoon @Seller_neF4CuCJSRb4d,

For a product to qualify for using manufacturer barcodes, it must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be in new condition
  • Have a single, scannable UPC, EAN, or ISBN barcode matching a single ASIN in the Amazon catalog
  • Not be an FBA restricted product or a dangerous good*
  • Not be an expiration-dated product*
  • Not be a consumable or topical product (such as grocery items, skin creams, cosmetics, or soaps)*
  • Not be a media product (such as books, CDs, VHS tapes, or DVDs)*
  • Not be a product related to children or infants (such as toys or baby clothes)*

For more information on Using manufacturer barcodes with FBA virtual tracking help page.

I also see you have spoken to support on multiple occasions to ensure you are following the steps accordingly. It also sounds like you are interested in registering for Brand Registry. Feel free to check out these enrollment guidelines here.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions regarding the information shared above. Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
