using amazon shipping buy signature -do i need insurance also?

I have had amazon fund orders the buyer states they did not receive if I shipped them in the handling time window as long as the buyer opened an a-z claim.

what if its an expensive item over 200.00 and amazon does not suggest signature and the person says they didnt get it?

will amazon still cover the item? if yes or no, what is the limit threshold they will cover?

why does amazon buy offer insurance? is it if the post office or carries loses the package? if yes do I have to file a claim somehow, as I dont see any option to do so?

rarely a package is lost when shipping in the usa, so insurance seems like a scam for the seller if amazon will cover a claim on a delivery that states delivered.

what if I send a package out and amazon suggests signature, but we dont send with signature because it costs more but item states delivered. will amazon still fund this?

Thanks for your help, im sure this will help many other sellers as I could not find answers to these questions anywhere.

I just had an order that was about $700 that the buyer said they didn't receive but showed delivered. Amazon didn't recommend a signature. Amazon granted the A-Z claim and funded it without any cost to us. As for why insurance is offered, it's just an added layer of protection if you want it. If I was sending a really expensive item, I might opt for the insurance as a just in case. Amazon does not list any threshold where the Amazon Buy Shipping INR protection doesn't apply. As for what if Amazon suggests a signature and you don't get one, I don't know. I always get the signature when they say that to be on the safe side.

Hello @PrettKoolKat,

Im happy to see some great input here. As mentioned, there is no stated amount limit. Additionally, Amazon also makes signature recommendations next to orders in Seller Central if this feature is turned on. Amazon built this feature to help reduce the refunds and claims paid on lost orders, and we estimate that adding signature confirmation to at-risk orders will reduce reported lost orders.im including additional details in the below help page.

Signature confirmation recommendation

Kindest regards,
