Quick Tip: Introduction to Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA)

img

Hi everyone!

This post is a very short introduction to Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA). FBA is a very broad topic so there will be a number of separate posts coming up with various tips and how-to walk throughs! Feel free to let us know if there are any particular areas of FBA you feel need a step-by-step post.

When you enrol and send products through FBA Amazon stores your inventory, ships your orders, and handles both returns and customer service on your behalf. The Amazon Prime badge will be added to your qualified listings and customers can avail of Amazon Prime free shipping on eligible offers. When you join FBA, your offers become more visible to customers and more competitive.

When you sign up to sell on Amazon, you are automatically enabled to use FBA. To choose FBA as your shipping method for a given product, you can do so either when creating a new listing or you can convert existing self-fulfilled inventory to FBA.

Here’s a brief outline of how FBA works:

  • You’ll first decide which products you’d like to send to Amazon.
  • Next, you’ll create your FBA shipment, prep and label your products, and send your shipment off to Amazon’s fulfilment centres. There is a video series on Seller University that can help navigate you through this process.
  • Once your shipment has been received your products become available for customers to purchase on your product detail page in the Amazon store.
  • When a customer purchases one of your FBA offers, Amazon packs and ships the order on your behalf.
  • Amazon’s customer service will also assist your customers to handle any returns.

To learn more about FBA please visit this help page or watch this Seller University video, which explains how FBA works and what fees apply.
