Exclude plural variation of keyword in Exact Match

Hi,

I have a sponsored product campaigning having exact target keyword - "choker necklace". This results in showing ads for plural variation of search term "choker necklaces" as well.

Is there a way to *not* target the plural variation? I tried adding negative exact, but then it stops showing for singular variation as well.

From the search term reports, I see that the plural variation performs poorly than singular version. Likely because the customer searching for "choker necklaces" is interested in purchasing a product containing a set of chokers, which my product isn't.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello @Seller_42JPQ7ABfYFmL

This is Roberto. Thank you for posting your question to the forums.

The first thing that came to my mind with this was using negative keywords. I noticed you already requested Support from our Advertising team on this via Case: 14753284261 and was advised this is not possible.

I am currently looking into this to find out if there is any alternative to further optimize the keyword matching. I will contact you back through this post once I have information.

Regards,

Roberto

Hey @Seller_42JPQ7ABfYFmL

I have been discussing the issue you brought with our Advertising team, and they acknowledged that the response provided in Case: 14753284261.

It is not possible to target a singular variation of a keyword without its plural version.

As per system design: the exact match includes the plural form of the keyword by default. Furthermore, when using negative exact targets: ads don't show on shopping queries that contain the exact phrase or close variation (i.e. the plural/singular variation of the keyword).

Therefore, it isn't possible to target only the singular variation of a keyword without targeting its plural variation.

I'm aware that this is the same information that was shared with you in the case, but I am hoping if other members of the Forums have the same questions, they can refer to this post.

Sincerely,

Roberto
