Watch Resellers Urgent: New Compliance Requirements for Products with Button Cell/Coin Batteries
Dear Fellow Sellers,
In light of recent changes imposed by Amazon, I urge all resellers, especially those dealing in products from major brands like Fossil, to join forces. We need to assist each other in securing the required documentation and to collectively raise concerns with Amazon about the fairness of these compliance demands.
A Call to Action:
As resellers of products from brands such as Fossil, it seems more logical for compliance responsibilities to be directed toward the original manufacturers. Amazon also directly sources these products from manufacturers like Fossil, setting a precedent that the responsibility for compliance documentation should rest with the manufacturer rather than the resellers. I encourage all affected sellers to use the template below to communicate with Amazon and seek a revision of this policy:
Sample Appeal Template:
I am writing to formally appeal the current compliance requirements imposed on resellers like myself. As a seller of products manufactured by Fossil, I believe that compliance issues should be directed towards them. Given that Amazon also purchases these products directly from Fossil, this precedent suggests that the responsibility for compliance documentation should rest with the manufacturer rather than the resellers. I kindly request that Amazon reconsiders this policy and directs all compliance matters related to this ASIN to the manufacturer, thereby alleviating the burden from resellers.
Compliance Update:
Effective immediately, if you sell consumer products that contain button cell or coin batteries, you must provide the following documents to ensure compliance:
Proof of Compliance with Underwriters Laboratories 4200A (UL4200A) from an ISO 17025-approved lab.
General Certificate of Conformity that clearly lists compliance with UL4200A.
Previously, Reese’s Law only applied to the batteries themselves. However, for enhanced safety, this regulation has now been extended to include all consumer products containing these batteries.
Note: Listings will be suppressed if valid compliance documents are not provided in time.
For more detailed information and to learn which batteries fall under this policy, please visit the Button Cell and Coin Batteries and Products That Contain Them section on Amazon's help page.
Together, we can advocate for a more reasonable approach that recognizes our role as distributors rather than manufacturers. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter, and I look forward to our collective action towards a favorable resolution.
Best regards,

Hello @Seller_WKLHzMgRJDMKB,
Thank you for utilizing the seller forums.
Based off of the information you have provided in the title and in your post, I understand that compliance documents are being requested for button cell and coin batteries.
Per our product compliance documentation policy it states, "If you list products on Amazon, you must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and our policies related to those products and product listings."
When laws are put in to effect, and rules and regulations changes, amazon must abide by them. Amazon may change the polices due to these laws, rules and regulations. Once the policies have changed, all sellers must abide by them as well.
If the manufacturers are selling their products on amazon, they would have to provide the testing documents. However, if they are not and if the seller's are selling the products on amazon, the sellers are responsible to provide the testing documents. All seller's must have the products testes by an approved lab and provide the documents to amazon.
The seller forums team, community and I are here to help. If you have additional questions or concerns, please let us know here in this thread.
Best,
Cade

Did you see Cade_Amazon response? Another robotic response with no help. I sell Casio watches and a bunch of my ASINS have been flagged. We will need to find someone with common sense in Amazons corporate to reach out to. Or we may need to get a lawyer involved. I do not see this happening on eBay and other platforms; simply ridiculous.

That would mean that every reseller would have submit an item to a lab for each model number even when already tested, can't be.
for Fossil, compliance documents are free to download
(cant put url here) compliance regulatory-compliance
Just download them for each mfg, no?
I do agree that AZ should maintain a database with them and only bother the brand sellers where they have no data.

You might as well spend time banging your head against a brick wall. Takes less time, and is more effective at relieving frustration.
You could get half of watch sellers to send appeals to Amazon, and it would make no difference. Once the policy is in place, you are screwed, and Amazon couldn't care less.

Hi there @Seller_WKLHzMgRJDMKB,
I wanted to stop here and thank you as well as all members of the community who have provided feedback on the product compliance request process for batteries.
I am going to forward this information over to the applicable team for review.
Thank you,
Stevie.

I just had an ASIN completely removed from the Amazons US catalog. This is insane and amazon is going to lose a lot of money! I have about 15 ASINS that will be removed by June 15th if amazon does not get the documentation they need. RIDICULOUS!!!
