Amazon Charging Twice for a Negative Balance (It's a thing they do now)

So many people are having this issue.

You have a negative balance. Your card gets charged

Amazon still carries the negative balance over and charges it as an expense against your sales, effectively double charging you.

You think you're going crazy. You call Seller Support. They can't help. They escalate your case. You hear nothing.

It keeps happening and they are dragging their feet to fix it. They owe me over $1700.

Not a great way to start a business relationship, Amazon.

Hello there @Seller_sP200dcoN2Qrq

My name is CR And I'd like to see if I can help clarify what may be going on here.

It sounds like you have a case(s) open with Seller Support - would you mind sharing those below? I'd love to review the issue in greater detail as well as read through the correspondence and any notes provided to date.

I'll hang tight here for your reply.

Get used to it, Amazon has been doing a lot of shady things. It is one of the reasons why they're getting sued by the FTC

Having this same exact issue. Hopefully we'll be able to get this resolved... this is really a nightmare.

Really?

I have been selling here for many years and have NEVER had a "Negative Balance".

Ever.

What you are conveniently leaving-out is WHY you are carrying a "Negative Balance" with Amazon. This factor is THE most crucial issue in deciding what is happening, and why.

I am not even sure how one gets a "Negative Balance" with Amazon, as their account is SUPPOSED to be tied to the Seller's Bank Account, which COULD have a "Negative Balance", but then Amazon ALSO requires that the Seller account be backed-up by a valid Credit Card (not a Debit card).

And EVEN THEN, if your Bank Account was a "Negative Balance" AND your Credit Card was unable to accept any new charges (for whatever reason), Amazon would STILL not even know about it UNLESS you also owed Amazon more in Payments than you had generated in Sales.

IF this is the case, I would say that your problems are greater than Amazon (possibly) double-charging you.

So, I would question your assertion that "Many people are having this issue".

After reading these posts, we checked our accounts and found the same thing--specifically for Canadian and Mexican shipments. What is going on?

How can this be fixed?

The only time I get a negative balance is when Amazon pays me my 2 week check then my monthly subscription is taken out. I never looked for added fees for that.

I have a feeling this issue is more of a "how it is shown on the payments screen" than it is a mistake.

When I look at my statement view for my Mexico account, it shows a negative balance being billed to me, and carried over to the next period as well. At first glance it appears they are charging my credit card for the negative balance and then carrying it over to the next period, effectively double charging me. BUT .. if you look at the transaction view instead of the statement view, you will see this is just not the case. The statement view starts out with the negative from the previous period, but the amount charged to your credit card will show in your "Sales" section under Other...so they start you out with the negative, then credit you back for the credit card charge, effectively making your account 0.00 again.

This happens to me for the Mexico account since a portion of my service fee is billed to that account every month.

If you want to verify, just click on the Transaction view tab and then download the CSV and look at it.

Hope this helps!

Gary

Just wait for all sales to go thru.

Is not the first time we are charged for shipping and the payment process for orders is delayed.
