No approval necessary to sell branded products!!
I have read a number of forums and noted on Amazon Seller University that sellers are required to get approval to sell branded products on Amazon

Just thought I would try list a well known international brand "L'oreal" and was able to do so without providing any proof that I was authorised to sell that brand.
If Amazon were serious about preventing unauthorised sellers they would do what they say are necessary to sell a product and not just let any hijacker put up their listing

You need not only approval from Amazon but also:
1. A "Letter of Authorization" from the brand allowing you to sell their brand on Amazon.
2. INVOICE (not receipt) from an authorized distributor. An invoice is a document with your name and address, exactly how you registered it in your seller account under "Legal Entity" and "Official Registered Address".
the bad thing is that Amazon will suspend your account and ask these documents AFTER you listing. And in case you cannot provide these documents your account will REMAIN suspended.
Go immediately delete this listing. Although, now it's anyway too late. The AI noticed it and you will get a deactivation notice soon.
Then you will see: it was NO joke, unfortunately.

Hopefully you didn't finish creating the listing; or if you did, you fully deleted it before any backups could hit it.
Otherwise you might be looking at an IP complaint coming from L'oreal.
I agree that Amazon should be more proactive on gatekeeping; but it's not that Amazon doesn't want you selling the products, it's the brands that don't want you selling. As long as you don't get caught, Amazon makes their 15% cut, with no risk to them until there is a complaint filed. Then the seller is the one who gets the shaft, and Amazon just moves on (possibly keeping some of the funds).

I understand your frustration relating to brand approvals, and thanks for the feedback. It's true that in some instances you are able to list under a certain brand, however there are processes in place which may trigger requirements for documentation as suggested. I would recommend for any brand approvals to thoroughly review the guidelines and to apply if you have the documentation. For any violations, feel free to report them and further enforcement action may be taken.
