Amazon changing MY handling time?!
A week ago, we changed our handling time from one to two day because we were both ill and needed a little extra time to get our orders out. Yesterday, we received an e-mail from Amazon telling us that THEY are changing our handling time back to one day. What gives them the right to decide MY handling time?! If we need extra time right now, we need extra time! How dare they! It's MY business, not theirs. We don't want things going late, and we want our customers to be informed as to our actual shipping times.
BTW, we're getter better here, so we put it back to one day because that is generally our practice, but I'm still appalled that Amazon thinks they can tell me how long I need to take with my handling time.
I would love any insight from anyone on this.

I'm just as outraged as you ( Although I must admit that I am a bit jaded in that respect. There are so many stupid things that Amazon does nowadays. My outrage meter needs a tune up, or maybe a complete rebuild. )
Amazon stupidity is becoming as common as bad weather. We sellers should keep an umbrella handy. Rather than curse your misfortune, you can prepare for it.
I suggest that you pre-pack as much as you can. I do. I wrap most books in a layer of bubblewrap when I price them. For books with a particularly good rank, I even fold a box and partially tape it, and store the book in the box. This means that I can pack much faster when the order comes in.
This has the downside of requiring more storage space, but the up side is that you have a shorter delivery time so you get the buy box more often, which allows you more sales to pay for that storage space.
There is also the additional upside that wrapped books seldom suffer any wear or damage in storage.

Simple fix. Go into your shipping settings top left corner general shipping setting and there you can adjust all of your shipping

edit and change it to what you want,

However, since I first read this post last night I have been unable to have the Shipping Setting page load. It just continuously shows a series of dots fading in and out.

You seem to have not read the announcement and the MANY posts on the Forum about this over the past couple weeks.
I have used 2 days to give me a safety margin for when I want to go out of town for a day or two.
Since Amazon wants COMPLETE control of my life I decided that I can play games with the system as well.
They can disable the 2 day shipping time BUT they have not (so far) stopped me from using the 'Order Handling Capacity ' amount.
My wife and I needed a day away last week so I set that 'throttle' to ONE ITEM.
That way every order that came in kicked the ship date out an extra day!
We were gone for about a day and a half -- Thursday afternoon and Friday. The WORST that could happen was having ONE late shipment!
I came back to a ‘near normal’ number of orders despite those 'extended delivery times' but here is what happened to the ship by dates as they come in –

For only a day or two off this eliminates the need for a vacation setting and keeps your account safe as long as you do more than a couple orders a week!
