iphone 15 can't scan barcodes

Just got an iphone 15 and scanning with the amazon app does not properly focus on barcodes, forcing me to type or dictate the numbers. The problem is with the amazon app only. Other apps scan clearly.

I am hoping an amazon moderator will jump in and address this issue.
