The cost of shipping with AusPost will depend on the number of shipments per month. If you are starting out, then the cheapest rate will be $8.30 per item up to 500g. If you have 200 shipments per month you will be able to negotiate with AusPost for a better rate.

In the US, you can buy postage from Amazon directly for USPS. I am sure that Amazon AU will eventually introduce the same here for AusPost so that you can print pre-paid shipping labels. There is no date for this feature but it is sure to come.

If others have thoughts on postage rates, lets hear from you.

Depends on how much you are sending but you can get it for as low as $4.90 (plus GST) for a 500g shipment without having to enter into an eParcel contract if you are sending 20+ parcels a week.

My current rates are:

Rural - $8.30 (500g) | $11.30 (1kg) | $14.20 (3kg) | $17.20 (5kg)
Sydney to another major city - $6.72 (500g) | $9.15 (1kg) | $11.50 (3kg) | $13.93 (5kg)
Sydney to Sydney - $5.40 (500g) | $7.35 (1kg) | $9.23 (3kg) | Around $10 (Anything up to 22kg)

You can buy packaging for pretty cheap online especially if you use satchels they go for about 10 cents a piece roughly

Set up a mypost business account and you can get a look at the full rates. Let me know if I can help in any way

We just scored a deal with eParcel (still Auspost) - definitely worth trying their agreement as it is going to save us lots with the savings we are enjoying now. Same postie, same vans, cheaper prices.
