Amazon Canada - Collecting GST
I am hoping someone can help me figure out how to get Amazon to collect GST on my Canadian orders.
I am a US seller who sells on Amazon.ca through the North America Remote Fulfillment Program. My Canadian sales exceeded the $30k tax threshold a while ago and I received an email from Amazon stating that I needed to register for a GST number in Canada and start collecting and filing taxes.
I registered for the GST number, entered the GST number on the Amazon Canada tax settings page and made sure my products had product tax codes set up. However, this did not trigger Amazon to start collecting sales tax for my Canadian orders.
I am now in a situation where I am filing GST with Canada each quarter, but Amazon is not collecting the tax from customers.
I have talked with numerous Amazon Seller Support reps, emailed with the "Amazon Tax Team" multiple times, but they don't understand the issue and tell me to contact a tax professional.
A tax professional can't help me figure out how to get Amazon's system to collect GST from customers. I need Amazon to collect GST, but I don't know how to get them to do it.
I have not registered for PST numbers yet and I'm wondering if PST numbers also need to be entered on the Amazon Canada tax settings page in order to trigger GST to be collected?
Does anyone who sells on Amazon Canada from the US (and has exceeded the tax threshold of $30k), know how to get Amazon to collect GST on your orders?
Thank you in advance.

Hi @Seller_kjX2JF4PX1TSD,
Steve from Amazon here, thank you for the post. While I am unable to provide specific tax advice, I have provided several resources below with more information on Amazon tax guidelines.
Canada tax and regulatory considerations
Tax Registration Agreement (VAT or GST)
State Tax Registration Numbers
I also recommend that you create a thread in the Canada Forums with this as that may generate some feedback from Seller in that store. You can change the store in which you post in the drop down box in the upper right corner of the Forums.
Thanks,
Steve
