Pricing Errors

Is anyone else having issues with high pricing errors lately? I am suddenly getting hit with high pricing errors for books that others are selling for more money. Example: just got an error on a book that's been in my inventory for two years. It's for 49.99. Another seller has it listed (in same condition) for 68.99 and another for 72.99. Yet another seller has it for 48.99 but not as good condition. I did reach out to Amazon but just got a form letter that they looked into it but you know....oh well.

I've had about 10 books removed lately for this, and every single time there are others selling for much more than my price. Is anyone else going through this? Thanks!

Happens all the time. I am thoroughly sick and tired of Amazon telling me my book prices are too high.

How about telling me when they are too low!?

The bots don't remove them by listing, taking down everyone they consider too high on each title. More like they go seller by seller. You just have to hope the bots get to the other sellers soon. And it can change, acceptable one day, not the next, back on the next.

I have never seen anyone have a proper resolution by telling Amazon that there are others at higher prices allowed to sell. For all we know, other sellers are taken off, when we are left to sell??

Yes! All the time! Listing at MAP doesn’t resolve the problem. The BOTS wants products listed below wholesale. Amazon has included the price of shipping with the product price. It just simply is not fiscally responsible to sell at a loss. We list items, get a performance warning and remove them. It’s crazy. Amazon is losing money using the very unfair pricing demands and they don’t care!

I have said it before, again and again...

The Amazon "Fair Pricing Tool" is flat-out illegal, as it violates laws concerning "Price-Fixing".

The ACTUAL fact is simple:

Prices can ONLY be "Fixed" during a period of Declared Emergency, and even then, it ONLY applies to "Essential Goods".

Books are NOT considered to be "Essential Goods", and so should NOT be subject to the "Fair Pricing Tool".

Movies, Books, Toys, and ALL other collectibles are OPTIONAL purchases, as they are NOT required to live.

Food, Water, Medicine, etc. ARE REQUIRED purchases, as people need these products to live.

While the "Tool" always existed, it rarely appeared to raise it's head and affect Buyers UNTIL the Pandemic hit.

If you remember, one of the VERY FIRST news stories that became a National Story when the Pandemic began was highlighting a few Amazon Sellers who had JACKED-UP their pricing on Medical Supplies (Masks, Gloves, etc) and related Health products. The news stories painted a VERY ugly picture of Shameful Greed on the part of a few Bad Actors, and on Amazon for allowing this to happen.

Amazon's immediate response was to turn the sensitivity of the "Fair Pricing Tool" up to ELEVEN! (Spinal Tap reference)

It is unfair and unjust, and Amazon continues to be able to "Get away with it" for years now.

For Non-Essential products, the ONLY "Tool" that is SUPPOSED to regulate pricing is "The Invisible Hand of the Market" (Adam Smith).

So when you hear about a state A.G. trying to take Amazon to court for this VERY problem, perhaps you should cheer them on, no matter which state it happens to be.

Still waiting on something from AG Bonta in CA on this matter...
