How to choose between VIC & NSW Facility?

How to choose between VIC & NSW Facility when sending shipment for FBA?
Some of my shipments goes to VIC and some goes to NSW facility.

Is there a way to choose one of them?

Hi there,

I don’t believe that you can choose, Amazon allocates the FC when you create the shipping plan. You could try creating and then deleting the shipping plan until you get the one you want.

@AhaTechAus - To answer your question: you cannot choose.

Amazon’s algorithm will automatically assign a Fulfillment Centre for your goods based on a variety of factors. While they don’t disclose what those factors are, you can assume they look at:

  1. Item category, weight, dimensions, and whether it’s Standard/Oversize
  2. Available Space in their FC
  3. Geographic location of the majority of your product’s customers. For example, if the majority of your customers are in TAS, VIC, SA, WA, they’d probably assign MEL1. Whereas if most of the people that buy your product are NSW, QLD, ACT, and even VIC, it might make more sense for them to place it in BWU1. You have to remember that they’re trying to keep their costs as low as possible which means saving as much as they can on shipping expenses.

Premium Placement - a program that allows you to ship all goods to one FC - isn’t yet available in Australia as it is in the US due to the small number (only 2) of FCs in this country.

I hope that answers your question.

Above answers are correct. Note that in the long run, they will almost certainly force you to divide your shipment among multiple FCs, as they do in the US.

I thought I read somewhere that there was an option to select where to send to as your ‘home’ DC. Did I imagine that or has someone else seen this?
