Make your products eligible for deals

A Lightning Deal is a time-bound, promotional offer where an item is featured for a limited number of hours, usually 4 to 12 hours (as determined by Amazon), on the Amazon Deals page. Featuring an item as a Lightning Deal may help increase sales and it may also be an effective way to reduce your inventory.

A 7-day Deal is a time-bound, promotional offer where an item is featured for a limited number of days on the Amazon Deals page.

To be eligible for deals, you must be a Professional seller with an overall rating of at least 3.5-stars. Additionally, products must meet customer experience criteria including:

  • Have a sales history.
  • Have either no product ratings or at least a 3-star product rating.
  • Include as many variations as possible.
  • Not be a restricted product or offensive, embarrassing or inappropriate product.
  • Prime eligible
  • New condition.
  • Compliant with customer product reviews policies. To learn more, refer Customer product reviews policies.
  • Compliant with pricing policies. For more information, go to Amazon policy on reference prices.
  • Compliant with deal frequency requirement. To learn more, go to Create a Deal.
Note: If your product is approved for a deal and then it violates the above customer experience criteria, your deal will be cancelled immediately.

If you meet the criteria for a deal:

  1. In the Deals dashboard, click Create a new deal.
  2. Select a product in your inventory and click Select.
  3. Enter the Schedule, and click Continue to next step.
  4. For Lightning Deals, enter Deal price or Discount per unit, and Minimum deal quantity.
  5. For 7-day Deals, enter Deal price or Discount per unit for each product.
Note: You will also need to choose the main product whose image will be featured on the deals page. This image must comply with our deal image policy or the deal eligibility will be removed.
  6. Click Continue to next step.
  7. Click Submit deal.

There may also be limited exceptions where seller-fulfilled items will appear on the Today’s deal page in circumstances where a Professional seller has demonstrated exceptional delivery performance and the product is too heavy or bulky to be Fulfilled by Amazon.

How can I become eligible?

Currently, only Professional sellers are eligible to run deals. Here is how you can upgrade your selling plan.

Which products are eligible for deals?

Eligible products are generally automatically displayed in the Eligible ASINs section of the Deals dashboard when they meet the following criteria (subject to change based on the seller’s country and time of year):

  • Quality: Products must have a sales history in Amazon stores. For products that have been rated, the product must have at least a 3-star rating to be eligible for deals.
  • Product variations: Deals should include as many product variations (for example, size, colour, style and so on) as possible. For some products, such as clothing and shoes, at least 60% of variations should be included in the deal. The predetermined minimum percentage of product variations are specified when you create the deal in Seller Central.
  • Category: Restricted products and products that are offensive, embarrassing or otherwise inappropriate are not eligible. Examples of ineligible items include e-cigarettes, medical devices and some medicines.
  • Fulfilment method: Products must be Prime-eligible. You can only choose Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) in Shipping Settings for these offers to be eligible for deals.
  • Condition: Only items in new condition are eligible for deals.
  • Seller Feedback Rating: You must have at least an overall 3.5-star rating.
  • Return Rate: Products with high return rates will be ineligible for deals.
Note: To ensure a great customer experience, all Deals are subject to Amazon’s review so it’s possible that certain ASINs may not be eligible for a Deal. We encourage you to regularly check the Deals dashboard as eligible ASINs are refreshed on a weekly basis.

You can choose to Create a deal from the list of eligible ASINs in the Select products tab of the Deals dashboard. If you do not see a particular ASIN on the Deals dashboard, this means that it may not currently eligible to be a Deal. Eligible ASINs are refreshed every week, so a deal you see this week may not necessarily be there next week. You can also consider other options, such as Coupons and Promotions, if your product is not currently eligible for Deals.
