Summary of shipment process

On the Summary page, you can review your shipment contents and track your shipments and their receiving status at the fulfilment centre. If there are any problem with your shipment, you will be notified on the Summary page and in Shipping Queue.

Summary is the sixth step in the six-step shipment creation workflow:

  1. Set quantity
  2. Prepare products
  3. Label products
  4. Review shipments
  5. Prepare shipment
  6. Summary

The Summary page provides an overview of your order and tools for tracking carrier progress as well as the receiving process after the order arrives at the fulfilment centre. You also have the opportunity to change the number of boxes in your shipment.

Important: If you modify the number of boxes after you have already printed your labels, you must reprint the entire set of labels for your shipment.

The Summary page consists of three tabs:

  • Track shipment provides tracking information about your shipment.
    • For small parcels, you can track your shipment by box number, tracking ID, and carrier status.
    • For less-than and full truckloads (LTL and FTL), you can track your shipment by freight number and your bill of lading (BOL). If you have used an Amazon-partnered carrier, Amazon will generate your BOL. The Amazon-generated BOL will be available in your seller account 24 hours before your scheduled pick-up.
  • Shipment contents is a list of products included in your shipment and the number of items received when the shipment arrives at the fulfilment centre. To see the status of your received items, click the number of units received. You can see how many units are in FC transfer and how many units are available for Prime sale. The units in FC transfer are available for sale, but cannot be eligible for Prime delivery until they are transferred to destination FCs.
  • Reconcile identifies discrepancies between what was listed in the shipment and what is received at the fulfilment centre. For more information, refer to the help page Reconciling your shipment.

If you did not use an Amazon-partnered carrier, on the Track shipment tab, enter your tracking information so that Amazon can provide you with accurate shipment tracking information.

  • For small parcel delivery, enter the tracking ID.
  • For LTL and FTL, enter your bill of lading (BOL) and freight number.

Click Delivery contents to display a list of the items included in the delivery.

Once the shipment has arrived at the fulfilment centre, if there are any discrepancies between what was listed in the shipment and what is received, you can use the Shipment Reconciliation tool to submit a research request in order to locate the missing items. For more information, see Reconciling Your Delivery.

Use a barcode scanner to provide carrier tracking IDs

You can use a barcode scanner to provide carrier tracking IDs in Seller Central by scanning shipping barcodes from the box label. You can also scan barcode from receipts and invoices. This feature is available only for small parcel shipments for which you have chosen to use your own carrier.

Note: If you are using an Amazon partnered carrier, you don't need to enter the carrier tracking ID information, because we will generate it for you. To view the tracking ID information, go to the Track shipment tab.

To use this feature, your barcode scanning device must support the Code 128 barcode format.

To provide carrier tracking IDs using a barcode scanner, follow these steps:

  1. On the Track shipment tab, click the Carrier tracking ID text field.
  2. Position the barcode scanning device above the carrier tracking ID barcode on the box label.
  3. Click 'scan' on your barcode scanning device. The carrier tracking ID will then automatically appear in the text field on the Track shipment tab.
Important: Most barcode scanning devices can be configured to automatically move the cursor to the next text input field, such as after you click "tab" or "enter." This is also supported on the Track shipment tab. If you are unable to configure the barcode scanning device, you can manually click the next text field on the Track shipment tab and continue to scan.
  4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you have finished scanning all box labels.
  5. Click Save all on the Track shipment tab.
