On this page, you will learn how to properly prepare products that are smaller than a credit card to protect them from dust or damage throughout the fulfilment process.
Important: Failure to comply with FBA product preparation requirements, safety requirements, and product restrictions may result in the refusal of inventory at the Amazon fulfilment centre, disposal or return of inventory, blocking of future deliveries to the fulfilment centre, charging for preparation, or for non-compliance at the fulfilment centre.
Any product whose largest side is less than 5.08-0.3175 cm (the width of a credit card) needs to be packaged in a poly bag with the barcode on the outside of the bag to prevent the unit from being misplaced or lost. This will also protect the unit from damage by tearing, dirt, dust, or liquid during the fulfilment process. Some products may not be large enough to accommodate a label, and bagging the unit will allow the barcode to be fully scannable, without wrapping over the edges of the product.
Watch this brief video for examples of how to prepare your products for shipment to and storage at Amazon fulfilment centres.
Package small units in transparent sealed bags (minimum of 0.00381 cm). Poly bags with a 12.7 cm opening or larger must be clearly marked with a suffocation warning label. Example: "Plastic bags can be dangerous. To avoid danger of suffocation, keep this bag away from babies and children."
Place a product description label with a scannable barcode on the side with the largest surface area.
Force a product into a bag that is too small.
Pack small products in bags that are significantly larger than the unit itself.
Pack small units in bags that are black or opaque.
Allow bag to protrude more than 7.62 cm past the dimensions of the product.
