Modify transit time

Transit Time (known as Shipping Time) is the time between when you hand the order over to your carrier until its delivery to the buyer's address. Transit time is part of the delivery time calculation displayed on the offer listing and checkout page:

Total Delivery Time = Handling Time + Transit Time (+ any weekends and public holidays in Australia)

Note: Amazon calculates handling time and transit time in business days.

If you use Shipping Setting Automation, then Amazon manages your transit time based on your ship-from address and your carrier preferences. If you have opted to manually define your transit times, then follow these steps to modify them:

  1. Go to Shipping Settings.
  2. Under the Shipping Templates tab, select the shipping template that you want to edit.
  3. Click Edit Template on the right side of the screen.
  4. Select the Shipping option, Regions, and Rates option that you want to configure.
  5. Modify the transit time by selecting the drop down menu under the Transit Time excluding handling time column.
  6. Repeat for as many Shipping options and Regions as needed.
  7. Click Save.

For Australia in particular, setting up different transit times per destination region is critical to provide customers with short and accurate delivery times. For instance, a customer living in Sydney will be able to receive a parcel significantly earlier than a customer living in a remote area of Western Australia. Your shipping settings need to account for differences in transit times between regions.

Finally, remember that the transit times in your shipping settings refer to ‘business days’ and do not include weekends or public holidays in Australia. They also do not include the handling time that you have defined for each SKU in Manage Your Inventory.

For instance, a SKU with a transit time of 5-10 working days and a handling time of 2 working days will appear to the customers as arriving late, as in, arriving after 14 or 16 calendar days, or even later if impacted by public holidays.
